Frequently asked questions

Will converting to JPG lose quality?
Converting from a lossless format like PNG to JPG introduces some lossy compression. At 85-90% quality, the difference is practically invisible. Converting between lossless formats like PNG to PNG loses nothing.
Which format is best for websites?
WebP is the best choice for modern websites. It is 30% smaller than JPG at equivalent quality and supports transparency like PNG. All major browsers have supported it for several years.
Can I convert to GIF?
GIF is limited to 256 colors and is mainly used for animation. For static images, JPG or PNG always produces better quality at smaller file size.
Does the tool convert HEIC files from iPhone?
HEIC conversion is not currently supported. If you have iPhone HEIC photos, your operating system may convert them automatically when you transfer them, or use a dedicated HEIC converter first.
What happens to transparency when converting PNG to JPG?
JPG does not support transparency. Any transparent areas in the PNG are filled with white when converting to JPG. To keep transparency, convert to WebP instead.
